Oaks Park

Today was Laika's annual family trip to Oaks Park Amusement Park.We came last year and I imagine we will probably make it again next year. It's kind of fun seeing Willow try out the exact same rides a year older and wiser.  She certainly enjoyed it a lot more this time around.

Rhododendron Gardens

We spent the afternoon at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens with the Riley family. I can't believe we have only just found this place its so picturesque with a beautiful lake, waterfalls and trails and lots of ducks, geese and squirrels to feed. It makes for a nice change of pace as it doesn't have any kids play structures there. I think we will have to fit in a few more visit's at different times of the year to this place, I bet its amazing all year round.

Scooter Kids

 Willow took her new birthday scooter out for a spin today. She was quickly joined by Cleo, who did a great job of teaching her how to use the back brake to stop. I'm always amazed at how quickly Willow catches onto doing new things, this is maybe the second or third time out on the scooter. She really has no fear when it comes to doing anything physical.

New Pet Fish

More Cooling Off

Visiting Jamison Square wading pool, our local watering spot to cool off.

The main feature of the park is a cascading water fountain that fills up a shallow basin / bathtub for kids to play in, then empties and restarts every 20 minutes or so. It's been over 90 F for well over 2 weeks now so this little oasis has been a much needed escape from the heat in the city. The kids just love this place.We had 3 hours of splashing fun here.

Gifts

Willows birthday surprises are never ending, she sure is lucky. She got a bunch more stuff in the post today, including a tenderheart Care Bear which I think might have originally been my sisters when they were released the first time round.  I guess their appeal to little girls is timeless.
