Critters for Childswork

I finally finished the felt masks and tails that said i would make for Willow's pre-school class, and just in time for Christmas. I was a bit cheeky and ripped the designs from a wonderful seller on Etsy. I just love her animal designs. Imitation is the biggest complement, right? Each critter got a tail, except for the poor Hedgehog. It was a rather questionable shape!

Last dress of the summer

I started this Oliver and S Tea Dress a while back. It came to a halt when my machine refused to to saw button holes or anything other than a straight stitch. I have been promising myself that i will get it fixed when i have a little downtime in between projects. But they just keep coming. First it was the pirate vests, the ongoing mermaid costume and now, after moving, i have to re-hem all the curtains again. It seems as though there is never any downtime. It really doesn't look like my ole machine is going to get fixed anytime soon. So in a last ditched attempt to get some wear out of this cute little summer dress before the weather closes in or madam grows out of it, i opted instead for some pop snaps.

Tea Party Sundress

Oliver + S dress made from upcycled women's vintage skirt found in the dollar bin at my favourite second hand store The Village Merchant. The pattern was super easy so the dress turned out pretty good considering it was my first attempt at a piece of clothing. It even has the optional piping around the bodice, extra lining through the skirt and side pockets to boot. Not bad for a beginner. I think there my be a few more of these on the way. Willow has already requested a skull print version.

Gnome

It's a gnome and it's in a bag. It's a gnome in a bag. I made one of these little pocket gnomes for Eli's birthday last year and whenever we have playgroup at his house, Liam can't get enough of this lil  blue guy. So here is Liam's very own for his birthday. The bag was an extra thought. Liam can literally hold on to something that he likes for two hours straight so i thought i would help him out while he's on the move at PDX playdate tomorrow for his birthday. He's a gnome on the go.
Of course now madam wants a pink glittery one.

Tent

I've finally got around to taking a couple of photos, with the help of madam, of the tepee i made for her a while back. I got the pattern from my 'Growing up sew liberated' project book, although i did make a couple of adjustments to the original design. I ended up adding an extra 2 feet to its overall height as 54 inches seemed a little small, especially for us both to fit in comfortably. I also omitted the small circular window that was at the back of the tent. I'm thinking of making a bunch of floor cushions, possibly some tree trunk pillows or mushrooms, and turning it into a little cozy reading nook in the lounge.

At Last

Woo Hoo I finally finished Willows woodland height chart. What a labor of love, it has taken so long that i can't even remember when i actually started it. I think i'm ready for a couple o quick projects, and maybe something that doesn't involve any sewing. I'm all sewed out.

New Blanket

I picked up this lovely mushroom fabric to make a new blanket for willow. She just loves her cozy furry baby blanket that she has always gone to bed with. But over time the blanket shrinks, she grows as does her frustration as it refuses to cover her entire body. So here is the much bigger version, lined with baby soft fur for her to cuddle up in. Oh and check out what it just so happens to be called.
(Note to self i really must finish that pesky height chart and stop starting other projects.)

New Chalkboard

I finally got around to making W a chalkboard table. I already had an Ikea kids table so just had to put a larger piece of wood on top and add some chalkboard paint. Easy and madam loves it.

Her first piece, a portrait of daddy.

And then a self- portrait.

Easter Egg Hunt

W's Easter bunny bag for her first egg hunt at our neighbors house.
I realized the night before that i had forgotten to buy one so i had to quickly knock one up. Thankfully i had some bunny coloured felt and just used some old buttons for eyes.

W with Cleo and Sam waiting for the hunt to begin.
Yipee there's chocolate and jelly beans in the eggs.
Egg booty.
