Cape Camping

We headed out for our first camping trip of the year. Cape Lookout was the destination. I have no idea why we have left it so late to venture out, especially as it seems like the summer is already drawing to a close. There's nothing like a little camping to sooth the soul and clear out the cobwebs.

Colour Wheel Art

Love this vintage colour wheel from Pottery Barn. This is a must for our new house.

Soapbox Derby

This morning we headed out to Mt Tabor for the 17th annual Soapbox Derby.  My little compact camera wasn't up to the event and these photo's were the best of a bad bunch. The bad bunch being the slowest bunch!

Pending

The property market sure moves fast here. We saw this place on sunday afternoon and had an offer accepted, (for the asking price, no less) less than 24 hours later. This cute lil gem completly slipped under the radar of the ever circling vultures in this whirlwind of a market. We braced ourselves for the inevitable bidding war, the stress and then the upset when it slipped through our fingers. But it never happened. Our realtor said it was a miracle. So i guess we are buying a house

So here we have it our cute bungalow

Party

I really wished i managed to get some more shots from Willow's birthday party.
But i had completly underestimated how long it would take to 'knock up the food' drive to the party location and set up before 12 noon. It was a mad rush at the end and we were literally throwing stuff on the tables as people started arriving. So i really had no time to take any photo's of the setup or even of my little pirate. But i think it went ok.  The kids had a ball running riot as pirates and terrorizing all the other kids in the park with their swords. And the adults had Bellini's.  That's all you need, right?

Pirate Prep

My sewing machine hasn't stopped for the past couple of weeks. I have been working on a bunch of stuff for Willow's 4th birthday party. The whole crew gets a vest, a sword, a sash, a headband, an eye patch and a pirate booty bag to take home.

The birthday girl's special pirate vest.

Reversible wrap party dress.
Willow picked out the skull fabric about 6 months ago and really wanted a dress made from it. I had been putting off using it for a while. I'm really not that keen on it and finding a fabric to go with it has been a struggle.  The pink flower choice was the perfect strategic move. Madam loves it and was easily convinced to side line the skulls to the lining. And for when she changes her mind, the dress is reversible.

If a pirate's gotta have a sword, its gotta be cute.
