Jack Gets Lashes

The Last of the Berries

We managed to get a last minute blueberry picking session done at Columbia Farm on Sauvie Island over the weekend. There wasn't a huge bounty but Willow still managed to have fun running up and down the aisles half naked screaming 'chase me daddy'.
I've never really done much fruit picking, well any if fact, until we came here. So its still a bit of a novelty. I find it such a calming thing to do and almost impossible to know when to stop picking. I guess now we are well stocked up for making blueberry pancakes over the winter months.

Quilt

I feel a quilt coming on. I love this faux wood quilt, from Land of Nod's new fall collection Camp Iwannadrinkawaww. I found it so satisfying sewing the wood grain on Willow woodland height chart here that i I'm feeling a need to make some more tree/wood things.

Off to School

Willow wanted to wear her pink sparkle birthday dress to school today so I agreed that she could but only if we could team it with something other than pink. The result was not a bad outcome. Why do 3 year old girls love pink so much?

First Day

Today was madam's first day at pre-school. Willow has been talking about being a big girl and going to school for months and now the day is finally here. She was super excited, and when she ran into her new buddy Clare outside they found each others hands, and ran first into the classroom. It couldn't have been any easier for her. I have to say that i shed a tear or two walking back home without her. Today is the beginning of a new world, a new world to be explored independently of her mama. I didn't realize how hard it would be to see her go solo but i guess this is just the start of new and wonderful things for my lil' bird. I'm so proud of you. Fly high.
And she's off. I feel pretty lucky than we are right around the corner and can walk to school.

A comforting arm for Eli.
